Messier 25

Messier 25 was catalogued by Charles Messier in 1764 and is located in the constellation of Sagittarius. A careful observer can see a darker lane running from left to right across the center of the cluster. This is actually background dust obscuring many of the stars located in this central portion of the Milky Way. This star cluster is located approximately 2000 light years from Earth.
