The Great Orion Nebula, also known as, M42 is located in the sword portion of the constellation of Orion. One of the most photographed regions in the night sky this nebula is easily seen as a gray fuzzy patch even in binoculars. This image was taken with an Astro-Physics AP160 EDF refractor in December of 2011. This image was catalogued by Charles Messier in 1769.
