This comet was captured transiting the Leo Triplet of galaxies in the constellation Leo. It was first photographed and discovered in 1969 and has an orbital period of 6.45 years. This means it returns and passes by earth relatively often in the life of a comet. Compare Halley’s well known comet at approximately every 75 years. This image was taken in 2016.
